Urban Enterprise Zone City of East Orange, NJ

Welcome to the City of East Orange UEZ website. East Orange is one of only 37 New Jersey municipalities that can claim to be part of the State's Urban Enterprise Zone Program. East Orange's designation as an Urban Enterprise Zone community allows it to offer business tax incentives that only this elite corps of NJ municipalities can.

Few programs have proven more enduring and successful than the New Jersey Commerce & Economic Growth Commission's nationally acclaimed Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) Program. The NJ UEZ program continues to be a hallmark for urban revitalization and a cornerstone for economic growth and development. Its creation of many thousands of private-sector jobs and billions in private and public investment rank it as one of the best in the nation. East Orange has used this valuable economic development tool to maintain an unwavering commitment to revitalization, economic growth, development, and prosperity. The UEZ has been an important piece of East Orange’s “City On The Move” progress.

The UEZ Program offers participating businesses many incentives that encourage business growth and stimulate local economies. The UEZ Program allows a tax credit against the Corporate Business Tax up to eight percent of qualified investments within the zone. Also, businesses may be eligible for priority financial assistance.

From the initial 10 UEZs that were designated in 1984, the program has grown to 32 zones in 37 municipalities throughout the state.

Businesses are encouraged to join the UEZ Program
